Lifeline to Israel’s Most Vulnerable
The sprawling grounds dotted with palm trees, a soccer field, tennis court, gym park and animal farm make it look like any well-appointed boarding school. Situated in the center of Kfar Chabad near Tel Aviv on 25 acres, Ohr Simcha is home to 270 boys, 5- 15 years old, at least a third of whom were removed from their parents by court order. The youngest and most vulnerable live with foster families in private, spacious residences designed to facilitate a functional, healthy family dynamic.

Candlelight Vigil Honors Slain Officer
Early Thursday morning, July 8th, 2007 at 2:30am, Officers Herman Yan and Russel Timoshenko came under a hail of gunfire as the two stopped a stolen SUV on the streets of Crown Heights. Both officers where hit and injured, one of them gravely. Two days later, Officer Russel Timoshenko succumbed to his wounds.

Fallen Trees Block Neighborhood Roads for Hours
Unusually strong winds persisted throughout the evening in parts of Brooklyn including Crown Heights, leaving the streets littered with tree limbs. Carroll Street was blocked off for hours after a large portion of a tree blocked the roadway.
