Letter & Spirit: Educating the Mentally Handicapped

In this week’s edition of Letter & Spirit, we present a letter from the Rebbe in which he provides insight on educating mentally handicapped Jewish children and individuals, which reflects an innovative approach – revolutionary in vision and scope. The letter was written through the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel, and was made available by the latter’s son-in-law, Rabbi Sholom Ber Shapiro.

Motzei Shabbos: Rally at the Ohel

On Motzei Shabbos, the 14th of Kislev (December 6), there will be a rally at the Ohel for all children ages 5 to 12 featuring a Pareve hot-served Melave Malka, an entertaining storyteller and an amazing program. Buses will leave 770 at 6:15pm and return at 8:30pm. Transportation will cost $3.

NYC Cop Not Indicted in Chokehold Death

A New York grand jury has just decided against an indictment Wednesday in the death of Eric Garner, an unarmed black man, who died after police officer Daniel Pantaleo put him in a chokehold in Staten Island in mid July. The arresting officer had accused Garner of selling loose, un-taxed cigarettes.
