As we contemplate our response to the “laws” that were recently passed in New York, Virginia and elsewhere I thought it appropriate to relate the following story, which I recently heard from Rabbi Nissim Mangel sheyichye. It took place in the late 60’s or early 70’s.

The body of a 19-year-old girl was found Thursday evening in a forested area of Ein Yael, near the Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem. The woman had been reported missing Thursday afternoon, and was found with stab wounds on her body.
A Lakewood man was stabbed inside the Lakewood Municipal Building on Thursday morning. Lakewood Hatzolah treated and transported the victim to the Jersey Shore Trauma Center. He is listed in stable condition.
The hit and run driver last month that sparked headlines in New York City, has been arrested. As per the NYPD, they will be charged with felony assault and leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries.
