Sunday and Monday, 25-26 Tammuz, Lubavitch-Chabad of Illinois and Rabbi Shimmy and Rochel Susskind of Chabad of Vernon Hills hosted the regional Kinus Hashluchim for the Midwest region of the United States, with 90 Shluchim from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin gathering at the spacious Beco Innovation Park in Libertyville, Illinois, for a day and a half of study, farbrengens, and creative and informative workshops.

Chabad in Nigeria is set to embark on a massive expansion just five years after its launch. The new center, set to be built on a parcel of land incorporating a recently opened mikvah, will bring all of Chabad Lubavitch of Nigeria’s activities under one roof.
During these weeks thousands of Jewish children throughout Russia are fully enjoying summer camps of the famous “Gan Israel” brand. Students from many different schools, different age groups and levels, and different cities, are all receiving a spectacular Jewish experience thanks to the successful organization under the auspices of Chief Rabbi of Russia Rabbi Berel Lazar.
I can add another point to that encounter with the Rebbe [which happened in the early 70’s]: The Rebbe was strongly against me developing ANY friendship with non-Jews. He pointed out how far Chazal went to discourage friendships between Jews and non-Jews, even of same gender, by forbidding their wine and other prohibitions (maybe he specified: cooking, bread, oil, cheese – but I don’t remember).
