Police are investigating an incident in which four Tishrei guests from Israel were robbed at gunpoint while sitting in Lefferts Park on Motzai Shabbos. The victims, two boys and two girls, had their cellphones a portable speaker and some $600 stolen.

Lubavitcher Army Chaplain Saves Stranger’s Life

A Lubavitcher U.S. Army Chaplain is being commended for his actions that led to saving the life of a distraught army veteran. Captain Michael Harari, who was off duty, observed the man about to do himself harm and jumped into action, speaking to the man and convincing him to come back.

Cuomo Defeats Nixon, Myrie Defeats Hamilton in NY Dem. Primary

With close to 90 percent of election districts reporting, unofficial election results show the race in the New York Primary Gov. Andrew Cuomo staving off a challenge from political upstart Cynthia Nixon. In the race for Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul defeated Jumaane Williams. In Crown Heights political newcomer Zellnor Myrie defeated the incumbent Jesse Hamilton.

I was born in 1926 in Kursk, Russia. It was at the beginning of Soviet rule, but despite the difficulties involved, my parents made sure to give me a Jewish education. When I was ten years old, my parents managed to get a permit to leave Russia, and we came to the Israel, then the British Mandate for Palestine. There I continued my Torah studies.
