Shabbos at the Besht: The Yom Tov of חמשה עשר באב
This Shabbos at the Besht: Rabbi Chananya Vechter, born in Brooklyn, learned in Oholei Torah elementary and Mesivta, Brunoy Yeshiva Gedola did shlichus, smicha in 770, and is currently learning in kollel. He will be lecturing on The Yom tov of חמשה עשר באב.
Israeli MK Nir Barkat Visits The Ohel
Former Jerusalem Mayor MK Nir Barkat (Likud) visited the gravesite of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe while in New York. Barkat was in the United States in order to present Israel’s case on multiple issues to public officials.
Weekly Story: Shema Yisroel
Two weeks ago I wrote about the HaKriah V’Hakedusha. While browsing through it, I noticed that in the issue of Cheshvan 5703 (pp. 440 – 438 in the bound edition) in the column that is devoted to explain parts of the siddur, that month was devoted to explaining the first parsha of Shema Yisroel and its unique connection to the Ten Commandments. Since in this week’s parsha we read and learn the parsha of Shema, I decided to post it.

The US Justice Department has announced the seizure of 17 funeral scrolls, manuscripts and community records looted from Jewish communities in different parts of Eastern Europe during the Nazi Holocaust, pledging them to return them “to theirn rightful Jewish communities.”
