Where BDS Threatens, Jewish Pride Beckons

On graduation day June 2015, Emanuelle Hodara, a native of France, proudly accepted her B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Biomedical Research from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Hodara and her family left France in 2004, when the resurgent anti-Semitism became too unpleasant. The young immigrant recalls her family feeling targeted everywhere: “in the classroom, in the workspace, from federal officers and from neighbors.”

Wednesday: Seminar on Domestic Abuse

The Shalom Task Force, a Jewish organization dedicated to fighting domestic abuse, in conjunction with several Crown Heights organizations and sponsors, will be hosting a women’s-only evening of awareness and education on the sensitive subject, featuring as keynote speaker Lisa Twersky, author of: “I’m so Confused, Am I Being Abused?” as well as words of Torah from Rebbetzin Bronya Shaffer, world renowned speaker and educator.
