CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Despite ‘reports’ that police promised to ‘ease up’ on Purim, many Crown Heights residents couldn’t help but notice the very opposite. White NYPD cars were out on the avenues and streets pulling over motorists on the Jewish holiday.

On Feb. 18, they were in Anshe Sfard Hall in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, rolling up the sleeves of Hasidic Jews. That’s a long way from Ashton Kutcher.

PLAINS TWP., PA — More than 200 Jews gathered together Sunday to celebrate the holiday of Purim at the Woodlands Inn & Resort.

“We’re celebrating the victory of the Jews over the Persians,” explained Malka Seewald, wife of Rabbi Mendy Seewald, who helped coordinate the event and who noted the victory occurred nearly 2,400 years ago.
