Purim Surprise for Flatbush Community
During a Seudas Purim and Purim Party, which was organized by Chabad of Flatbush for the community, at the hall of Congregation Etz Chaim, participants where excited to see their beloved Rabbi, Rabbi Zalman Liberow, making his first visit out of healthcare facilities.
At a horrific crash that took the life of his 9 year old son, Avrohom Dovid, A”H, and the life of Pesha Leah Azoulai, Rabbi Liberow sustained severe injuries, which kept him in the hospital for almost a month. He is currently confined to a nursing home in Brooklyn, where family and community are able to visit him, while he undergoes extensive physical therapy.
At the event, Rabbi Liberow spoke words of Chizuk to his community, expressing his hope that we should very soon be able to make a brocho הגומל לזכאים טובות, tearfully saying that his son, Avrohom Dovid, and Mrs. Pesha Leah Azoulai, are definitely meritful, and we should be zoche to make a brocho upon their תחית המתים speedily, in our days.
Rabbi Liberow emphasized the message of the megilah in the words וקבל היהודים, whereby Jews affirmed the commitment they made in Matan Torah. So too now, we should affirm that which we accepted from the Rebbe on the 28th of Nissan, when we were instructed to do all that is within our power to bring upon the world the גאולה האמיתית והשלימה.
Rabbi Liberow conveyed the Rebbe’s message, that they way to bring upon the world the גאולה is by learning the topics of Moshiach and Geulah as they are expressed in the various parts of torah. He elaborated, that by learning these themes in the various parts of torah, a person’s life is qualitatively transformed to a life permeated with the omnipresence of Hashem, as we will all experience very soon when we will merit that Moshiach is revealed to all of us.
During his talk, Rabbi Liberow acknowledged the work of his son Levi Yitzchok, who has been fulfilling many of Rabbi Liberow’s duties during his absence.
He also announced that his assistant, Rabbi Chanoch Hendel Chaskind, and his wife, will be joining him as emissaries of the Rebbe to the community, and requested the community’s assistance in this undertaking.
It is to be noted that the family is still facing a very significant hardship, as many of the expenses currently incurred are not reimbursed by insurance or any other source. The family is hoping to be able to celebrate Pesach together, and is trying to find appropriate accommodations within the community.
