Transformer Fire Suspected in Causing Fire in Oholei Torah

Sunday night an electrical transformer overheated and began malfunctioning causing a series of explosions and fires. It all began at around 1:00am when FDNY received a call about smoke and the smell of fire in the intersection of Empire and Troy, they arrived on scene and couldn’t find anything but moments later there was a large explosion in the transformer box underground sending flames up. Firefighters taped off the area and notified ConEd and left one engine on scene until their arrival.

The Margolin Family is sitting shiva following the passing of their dear father HaRav Moshe Eliezer ben Aaron Eliyahu.

He is survived by daughters Aidle Backman (Monsey, NY), Chana Solomon (Boro Park, NY), Leah Tropper (Monsey, NY), and sons Rabbi Aron Meir Margolin (Norfolk, VA), and Rabbi Chaim Zushe Margolin (North Miami Beach, FL).

They will be sitting until Monday morning. Aron Meir Margolin and Leah Tropper accompanied the mais to Eretz Yisroel, Aidel and Chana are each sitting at their homes and Chaim Zushe is sitting now through Thursday morning in Crown Heights at the home of the Liebermans, 724 Eastern Parkway. Thursday Mincha through Monday morning he will be in N. Miami Beach, FL at 960 NE 172 nd Street.

Yud Tes Kislev at Mesivta Menachem, Buffalo NY

Every year, in the true spirit of “Chassidim zeinin ein mishpacha”, Anash from all over Buffalo come to celebrate the Rosh Hashanah of Chassidus together with the bochurim of Mesivta Menachem. This year the Mesivta hosted its largest crowd yet. Rabbi Sholom Ber Lispker, mashpia in Chovevei Torah was the guest speaker. As has become the tradition at the Yud Tes Kislev farbrengen, a number of local ballei battim also shared words of inspiration with the bochurim.

Two Girls Assaulted in a Building on Montgomery St

742 Montgomery St, a building that brings back horrible memories for a woman in her 50’s and to a newly married couple who lived there. This evening two more girls can (Loi Aloinu) say the same.

At around 6:00pm two Jewish girls were attacked on the third floor of 742 Montgomery St by two Black males. The girls were approached from behind and were both grabbed by the perpetrators. Both immediately began screaming which apparently scared the perps off, by the time residents opened their doors all they saw was the perps backs fleeing down the stairs.

She leaves behind two sons, Rabbi Mendel Nemes of Crown Heights and Rabbi Yossi Nemes Shliach to New Orleans and daughter Mrs. Rishi Greenwald, Shlucha in Long Beach, CA.

The Levaya will take place today (Monday), will be leaving at 10:45am from the Shomrei Hadaas chapel and passing by 770 at around 11:15am
