First Ever Chanukah Parade in Las Vegas!

LAS VEGAS, NV — This past Motzei Shabbos, Chabad held its first ever Grand Car Menorah Parade down the world famous Las Vegas strip in which over 20 vehicles participated. The parade finished at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign at which some of the cars stopped to take a picture.

Chanukah at the Victorian Parliament

MELBOURNE, Australia — A Chanukah Menorah was lit in the Victorian parliament by the Chabad House of the center of Melbourne. The ceremony was honored with the presence of the PM of Victoria John Brumby, head of the opposition, Ted Baillieu, ministers and members of Parliament, apart of the 200 Rabbis and important members of the Jewish community of Melbourne.

ST AUGUSTINE, FL — As the sun dropped out of sight Wednesday evening, December 5, crowds gathered in the Plaza de la Constitucion to participate in a celebration that has become something of a tradition here in St. Augustine. City and state dignitaries were among the several hundred people who gathered Sunday night in Old Town Square to celebrate Hanukkah with the lighting of a giant menorah.

“It is fabulous. After all of the controversy and things going on in the past week and the past year, it is nice to see their support,” said Jennifer Pustilnik, who attended the celebration with her children.

SILVER SPRING, MD — In a holiday celebration Monday, seven children spun like a dreidel as they sang along with children’s entertainer Susan McNelis.

“Oh, dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay. And when it’s dry and ready, then dreidel I shall play,” they all sang.

ALBANY, NY — A Hebrew Day School in Albany celebrates an important milestone on the seventh night of Chanukah. They overcame the destruction of irreplaceable pews at the hands of vandals over the summer. The dedication Monday represented a historic milestone in the history of this city’s Jewish community.

With a stiff breeze feeding a torch carried past them Sunday evening, scores of people lit candles outside The Jacksonville Landing to observe the sixth night of Hanukkah.

“Light is meant to be spread. Light begets light,” Rabbi Yoseph Kahanov, executive director of Chabad of Northeast Florida, told about 125 people gathered to mark the Jewish festival. “The soul of man is the candle of God. So let’s light up our candles.”

The Marriott Hotel Celebrates Chanukah

BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — The Marriott Hotels at the Brooklyn Bridge has joined the ranks of the hundreds upon hundreds of venues that sponsor a public Chanukah menorah lighting ceremony.

This year’s event took place on Wednesday evening, the second night of Chanukah in the hotels grand lobby. The Marriott Hotel at the Brooklyn Bridge has the distinct honor of being the former home to the International Conference of the Chabad-Lubavitch Shluchim and the current home of the International Conference of Shluchos.

TUCSON, AZ — Many Jewish students on campus will celebrate Hanukkah without their families this year, as the holiday occurs before classes let out for winter break.

It’s a Chanukah first for Trafford

ALTRINCHAM, England [CHI] — The first Jewish Mayor of Trafford for many years, Councillor Bernard Sharp, hosted a candle lighting ceremony to welcome the festival of Chanukah in the Mayor’s parlour for the first time ever on Tuesday 4th December.

Under the auspices of Rabbi Dovid Jaffe of South Manchester Lubavitch, the ceremony took place on the first night of the festival. The number of candles lit is traditionally increased by one every night for eight nights.
