Picture of the Day: Newborn Boy Named After Toulouse Terror Victim
On the 22nd of March, 2012, about 72 hours after the tragic news of the brutal massacre of a father and three children in Toulouse, France shocked the world, a baby boy was born to Zalmy and Chaya Wolff (nee Inglis) of Crown Heights. This morning, the newborn was named after Aryeh, the 6-year-old son of Yonatan and Eva Sandler, who was murdered, along with his father and 3-year-old brother Gavriel, on his way to school that morning.

The ‘Tzfati’ members of kvutzeh have lately taken to reenacting an increasing number of routine occurrences from the later years of the Rebbe’s life. In this photo, they mimic the drawing of ‘Mayim Shelanu’ for the baking of Matzah, which the Rebbe began to perform on the porch of 770 in the late ’80s, as can be seen in this video.

On the day before 27 Adar, 1992, the Rebbe stood on his feet for many hours distributing thousands of dollars for Tzedaka, as was his usual Sunday custom. Afterwards, the Rebbe davened Marriv, and the gathered chassidim were intrigued as to why the Rebbe was taking so long to finish Krias Shma.

A reader sent us this mobile photo of a ConEd crew replacing an aging electrical transformer on Troy Avenue near Crown Street. Workers said that some of the old units can be as old as 30 or 40 years old, shoring up the use of the age old adage ‘If It Aint’ Broke, Don’t Fix It.’
