New Course to Take an In-Depth Look at ‘Rabbinic Judaism’

One of the most misunderstood elements of Judaism is the Oral Torah, the companion to Scripture in which the terse laws of the Torah are elucidated, expounded and expanded. Talmud, Midrash and many other bodies of work all fall under this general rubric. To gain clarity on these issues, the public is invited to join a new course on Chabad.org, titled “Two Equals One.”

New Mikvah in New Zealand, 75 Years After the Rebbe’s Urging

Tucked in the far southeastern corner of the globe, the Jewish community of Wellington, New Zealand, is in the process of rebuilding its aging community mikvah. For many, the endeavor is especially meaningful in the light of the special significance that the Rebbe—Rabbi Menachem M. Schneersohn, of righteous memory—attached to its construction as far back as 1944.

Three Shabbat candles shine brightly from a pop art mural, spreading their glow on a colorful backdrop. Street art is a very contemporary medium, but the message of this piece is timeless.

Grand Trip Planned For Beis Nisan in Rostov

The Jewish Community of Rostov-on-Don in Russia is planning a series of landmark events that will commemorate the 100th yartzeit of the Rebbe Rashab, the 5th Rebbe of Chabad-Lubavitch. These events are set to be held around 2 Nissan 5780 (March 26-29, 2020), and bring together local Jews with Lubavitcher chassidim and bochurim from around the world.

A Crown Heights landmark has received a much needed revamping these past few months. The Mobil gas station on the corner of New York Ave and Empire Blvd has faithfully provided fuel for Crown Heights’s many thirsty vehicles for many years. Now the old gas station stands proud with a well lit and beautifully renovated location.
