Yale Launches Holocaust Survivors Podcast

Yale University’s Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies launched a podcast series featuring the remembrances of survivors. The series launched this week with the testimony of Martin Schiller, a Jewish man from Poland who described his experiences in the concentration and slave labor camps of Plaszow, Skarzysko-Kamienna, Buchenwald and Theresienstadt. Plaszow serves as the setting for the film “Schindler’s List.”

PEARLS: 135,000 Comments Opposing Proposed Regulations Of Private Schools Submitted

Over summer break, more than 135,000 parents, alumni, educators and supporters of private education in New York submitted comments to the State Education Department expressing opposition to the proposed “substantial equivalency” regulations and urging that they be withdrawn. The State Education Department is required by law to review and respond to each of the comments submitted.

Knesset Speaker Affixes Mezuzah in Machpelah House

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein affixed a mezuzah to the doorpost of the Machpelah House in Hevron Wednesday afternoon. “On September 4, 35 years ago, I was arrested in Moscow and sent to Gulag. Who would have believed then that I, as the Speaker of the Knesset, would be allowed to fix a mezuzah in the Machpelah House opposite the Cave of the Patriarchs?” Edelstein said.
