In Face of Anti-Semitism, French Jews Deepen Identity

In the latest of anti-Jewish activity in France, protestors attempted to storm two synagogues in Paris on Sunday. The country’s growing Muslim population—now estimated by some at about 6.5 million, representing roughly 10% of its population—is raising the worrisome specter that France is slowly becoming a Muslim stronghold, threatening the French way of life. It has already become conspicuously inhospitable to France’s long-time Jewish population, causing many Jews with deep roots in France to emigrate after feeling increasingly vulnerable.
