Two Jewish Woman Attacked Friday Evening, Police Refuse Assistance

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Two Jewish women were assaulted Friday night by Black strangers. The two incidents occurred around the same time, on different ends of the neighborhood. One of the victims flagged down a police car that refused to help and did not call for another unit to assist her, instead telling the witnesses to “get over it.”

One incident took place on Carroll Street between Brooklyn and Kingston Avenues around 9:00pm, as people were returning home from Shul. A Black male, described to be in his late teens or early twenties, walked passed a Jewish married woman and slapped her. He then fled toward Kingston Avenue. The perpetrator was described as wearing a dark-colored, sleeveless T-shirt and dark jeans.

Back in the 1930’s, a large shoe conglomerate with stores all over North America, wished to explore the developing market of the emerging African Continent. Two high level representatives were dispatched to scout the villages across the continent and assess the opportunities.

Before long, the first rep. reported back: “The mission is a disaster. No one in these parts even knows what shoes are, let alone wears them! The situation is hopeless.”

Soon after, the second scout filed his own report. His cable read: “Urgent! Send 10,000 pairs of shoes ASAP. The place is ripe with opportunity. Nobody here owns a pair of shoes!”

Torah in Memory of Chana (Raskin) Wolwosky

For nearly a year the Lubavitch community has been mourning the tragic loss of Chana (Raskin) Wolwosky OBM. As her first Yartzeit approaches, a community in California will be honoring her legacy.

This coming sunday, the Chabad Jewish center of Rancho Santa Fe will be concluding the community’s first Sefer Torah, dedicated in loving memory of Chana. How appropriate an honor for a young lady who spent the last years of her short life teaching Torah to children.
