Two Jewish Woman Attacked Friday Evening, Police Refuse Assistance

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Two Jewish women were assaulted Friday night by Black strangers. The two incidents occurred around the same time, on different ends of the neighborhood. One of the victims flagged down a police car that refused to help and did not call for another unit to assist her, instead telling the witnesses to “get over it.”

One incident took place on Carroll Street between Brooklyn and Kingston Avenues around 9:00pm, as people were returning home from Shul. A Black male, described to be in his late teens or early twenties, walked passed a Jewish married woman and slapped her. He then fled toward Kingston Avenue. The perpetrator was described as wearing a dark-colored, sleeveless T-shirt and dark jeans.

A second incident took place on Troy Avenue and President Street around 9:15pm, also as people were returning from Shul. A young Jewish girl noticed that she was being followed by a Black male in his late teens or early twenties. The girl quickened her pace and made her way into a building on the corner, which was her destination.

The perpetrator followed her into the building, unbeknownst to her, and as she was about to walk into the apartment he struck her with a stick or umbrella of some sort. Two Bochurim noticed and chased after the assailant who fled and managed to get away.

Not willing to give up so soon, the two Bochurim walked up and down Troy Avenue in search of a police officer. After half an hour, and not a single police officer in sight, they decided to look for one on Utica Avenue. After a few minutes they spotted a cop car sitting in traffic.

The duo approached the police car and told the officers what they had witnessed and said that they wanted to file a police report. The two Hispanic female police officers rolled their eyes and asked them why they did not call 911. The Bochurim responded that they are not permitted by Jewish Law to use a telephone on Shabbos unless there is a life threatening condition, which it was not. The officers told them that they were unable take a report because they were on their way to a car crash.

The Bochurim pleaded with the officers to at least use their radio to send down another officer to take the report, to which they responded that they could not because “everyone is busy with arrests.” One of the Bochurim voiced his shock and disgust with the officers’ behavior. “It already happened. Get over it,” an officer responded.

In a conversation with CrownHeights.info, one of the Bochurim said that the two officers were riding in car # 2193, and that he will be filing a police report now that Shabbos has ended. He added, “As a community, we cannot tolerate being mistreated by police and I am going to file a complaint with 311 against the officers as well.”

    First this COP garbage, I think was meant to close/shut down ALL and ANY Jewish Patrol*. Thank G-d at Least one of those patrols did not fall for this trap.

    And just a few days ago at the precinct meeting, the inspector tried and failed to take our voice away, by basing and discrediting crownheights.info.

    I know, I know there are so many good people here in Crown Heights (your out there doing good things everyday), why are we letting a small group of trouble makers destroy OUR community?     The Bochurim were correctly informed by the police officers that since the situation was not a life-threatening one a police report could be made at a later time.
    Police officers were responding to a car accident.
    That had a higher priority than taking the Bochurim’s report.

    we got to take a moment and think and thank those who volenteer and sacrifice there time to help protect the comunity.

    There needs to be local laws about instagaiting a fight. E.i. If someone instagates a fight he should serve community service even if there it was only verbal. I was walking down the street and for no reason at all two colored in’devil’auls stamped their feet behind me.

    We had a car ”manned“ by two female ”officers“ respond to a complaint we had about a black person who committed an offense outside our house; these two police personnel were one black and one Hispanic, and they did the ”rolling their eyes“ thing to us too!     The so-called-ladies were not only rude and completely unprofessional, but they inflamed an already horrid situation between the 71st and the Yidden of this community.

    in about 3 weeks you will be able to find as many cops as you need at the new precint house on teh corner of Eastern Parkway and Nostrand avenue. AKA the new Dunkin Donuts. That’s rite ladies and gentelman the donut patrol will be available 24/7 at eastern parkway and nostrand avenue.

    Perhaps a folder with all the news from crownheights.info over the last year can be passed on to someone from the media to publish.

    It’s good to document all the violence happening against our people, but why not put it forward into the public eye? the pressure will force the police to make some real changes.

    Otherwise it seems kinda pointless to post all thse article, since nothing has really changed in the past 5 years that they have been posted, and as someone mentioned, things are getting eerily similar to how it was in ’91, with a story every night.

    So let the public know. If it’s all documented, pass it along!

    I don’t live in your neighborhood but I’ve experienced what you are going through in the past.
    The only way to deal with those animals is to fight back and put some fear into them. Deterance is what you need and the way to get it is through knowing how to fight back.

    I am the father of one of the young girls who was attacked. We live out of town and some of our children live in Crown Heights. We’ve had similar problems here with Yidden being mugged by shfartzahs here in Oak Park, MI. The police for years didn’t do a damn thing, until…..very recently one of their own was killed by a Black 16 year old with his own gun during a traffic stop. I’m sorry to say, it will probably take a similar incident for the police to realize what hell Yidden in Crown Heights have to live in. There are ways to handle this, but you have to know the streets.
