At about 7:45 on this wet rainy evening, Wednesday, on the corner of Empire and Albany an elderly resident of the community was struck by a vehicle. The car, which was driven by a woman, made a left from Albany onto Empire and hit the elderly man as he was in the cross walk crossing Empire, both the man and the driver had the green light.
Hatzolah took the elderly man to Kings County Hospital where he was treated for injuries he sustained to his head.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everybody to be careful while on the streets, drivers and pedestrians alike. On the road be smart, not right!

Many first-year students at colleges and universities are away from home for the very first time in their lives.
For a large majority of these students their freshmen year is not only about adjusting to a new school and making new friends, but it also allows students to get to know themselves without their friends and families around.
Specifically, a freshman at a college or a university not only understands the way around campus, but he/she also begins to develop his or her own identity as an adult.

Binghamton, NY — It was supposed to be a night to catch up on all the fun he had missed. It was supposed to be a celebration after finishing his last final exam for the year. It was supposed to just be good old horseplay in the house — while drunk, of course.
At about 10:30 this morning, Mazkir of the Rebbe R. Binyomin Klein brought the Rebbe’s car in for service. The ’91 Cadillac Brougham is still in service and is being driven by the Mazkir.

Levi Landa was just an infant when his photo first appeared in the St. Louis Jewish Light in 1980 when his father, Rabbi Yosef Landa established Chabad in St. Louis. Levi attended Epstein Hebrew Academy and then continued his studies, including several years in France, Israel and London. He received his rabbinic ordination from the Rabbinical College of America in New Jersey in 2003 and then, like so many St. Louisans, he returned home.
In honor of R. Gerlitzky’s birthday a Farbrengen was held in the large classroom in Oholei Torah. Special entertainment was the surprise and highlight when R. Yankel Miller the famous Badchan made his appearance and had the crowd laughing away.

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Labkowski and his family as well as Rabbi Menachem Mendel Stolik and his family, have recently moved on Shlichus to Curitiba, Brazil in order to establish a new Kollel (Jewish Learning center), a Jewish School, as well as other educational programs and activities.
They were appointed by Rabbi Yosef Dubrawsky, the head Shliach of the State of Parana.
Rabbi & Mrs. Avrohom Yitzchok (A.Y.) Perlstein will IY”H be moving on Shlichus to Salem, Oregon where they will establish a new Chabad House serving the members of the Jewish community of the greater Salem/Keiser area.
The Perlsteins were appointed by the head Shliach to Oregon, Rabbi Moshe Wilhelm.

Pittsburgh, PA — It took a tragedy as heart-wrenching as Dorothy Schwadron’s, but someone’s finally listening.
In December of 2005, Rabbi Moshe Mayir Vogel, director of the Aleph Institute of the North East Region, received a call from the Polk State Hospital. Would he arrange for the burial of one of their patients?
Students from the Head Start up trough the Elementary Division, Zal, and alumni gathered in front of 667 Eastern Parkway, to Melaveh Shloime Meshorer OB”M. he was buried in the Beth-David Cemetery in Elmont (Queens).
He leaves behind 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Chabad on Campus, the network connecting many students and Shluchim get together annually for a special Shabbaton spent here in Crown Heights. Students began arriving Friday Erev Shabbos where they were placed at houses of those who volunteered board for over 500 students that attended this year.
The program included tours of Manhattan, the Rebbes Library, The Rebbes Room, 770, The Jewish Childres Meuseum, Crown Heights and the Ohel. Throughout Shabbos the Tefilos and meals were spent together in Oholei Torah packed with Farbrengen’s. Motzoai Shabbos was the Melava Malka followed by musical performances by NIZ and Ta Shema, new Jewish/Chassidic hip-hop groups, and a surprise visitor, Matisyahu who performed a few songs.

All throughout Sunday afternoon and evening the Razag ballroom was open to all woman to come and see all the prizes that are being offered up for auction, following which was a program which included singing by Kineret and Caroline Cohen, a speech by Mrs. Esther Piekarski a renowned marriage and shalom bayis counselor from Tel Aviv following which was the auction drawing.
