DURHAM, NC — The Raleigh-Care Jewish Federation in North Carolina awarded a grant to the Chabad Jewish Student Center serving the University of North Carolina and Duke University to support its weekly Shabbat programming.

MONTREAL, Canada [CHI] — In honor of the festival of Chanukah, 7th Grade of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch of Montreal, along with the engineering help of a number of older students studying at the Rabbinical College of Quebec, constructed 2 magnificent menorahs, which were made exclusively with lego style Micro Mega Blocks.

NYPD detectives arrested a 27-year-old suspect early Sunday in the stray bullet slaying of a Crown Heights nurse, cops said.

Darius Dubarry was arrested in his room at the Day's Inn in Augusta, Ga., around 5 a.m. in connection with the death of Carol Simon, 35, cops said.

SDEROT, Israel — As the Israeli government ponders what exactly to do to stem the almost daily onslaught of Palestinian-fired Kassam rockets on the southern Israeli town of Sderot, a local Jewish synagogue and community center there has come up with a way to at least offer spiritual protection to the frightened residents.

ULY’s Second Grade Purifies the Air!

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Thursday, Yud Aleph Teves was an exciting day for the students of Lubavitcher Yeshiva’s second grade as they set out to fulfill the directive of the Rebbe in the Hayom Yom of that day.

The boys went on a journey to “purify the air” bringing torah to the subway trains, over ground trains, streets and stores. The Talmidim were full of liveliness as they recited the twelve Pesukim and Chumash in an effort to be “metaher ha’avir” from Crown Heights to Coney Island.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — It was a bizarre sight for some Yidden walking in and out of 770 this Motzoei Shabbos. A Bochur wandering in front of 770 without a coat, pants or even shoes , and one passerby deemed it appropriate to call Shomrim to have the situation checked out.

When Shomrim members arrived on scene they took the Bochur inside and dressed him with a long coat and began investigating what has taken place.
