Chabad of the Conejo Celebrates 28 Years

Conejo, CA — Chabad of the Conejo, CA held its annual Gala Banquet on Tuesday, June 12th, 2007. The event was held at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Nine hundred friends and supporters gathered for an evening of glamour, entertainment, and tribute. The gala this year was titled “A Call To Leadership” and was followed by a performance in the Kavli Theatre (1600 people) featuring The Moshav Band and Marc Salem in a new show “Mind Games Extra”.

Bicycle Registration Tomorrow

Kids can get their bicycle registered on Friday, June 22nd, between 11 AM and 1:30 PM, it will take place in front of the Community Council Office, 387 Kingston Ave [bet Crown and Montgomery St].

Religious Construction Projects Runneth Over

Joshua Young, who is enrolled in the Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Boynton Beach Early Childhood Center program that will begin in August, helps plant seeds in the alphabet garden with Director Leslie Cooper.

Boynton Beach, FL — At Chabad, the new 10,000 square-foot Jewish Early Childhood Center will join the recently opened mikvah on the 3-acre El Clair Ranch Road campus. It is expected to open Aug. 28, with classes for 2- and 3-year-olds. Pre-kindergarten classes will be added the following year.

5th of Tammuz – Yahrtzeit of R. Bentzion Shemtov

The fifth of Tammuz is the Yahrtzeit of Rabbi Bentzion Shemtov’s, a very special chosid and shliach from the past generation. Rabbi Shemtov is seen here Davening Beavodah in 770 in the late 5720s during the month of Tishrei. Rabbi Shemtov passed away in 5735 in a fatal car accident in Israel.

Gimmel Tammuz in the early afternoon R. Binyomin Klein stopped by Everything Automotive [our advertiser] on East New York Ave in order to pick up his Cadillac, the one in which he drove the Rebbe to the Ohel for a number of years.

Since my last article on the tuition crisis, many people have stopped me in the street, called or e-mailed me to discuss their pain and their ideas on this issue.

In order to deal with this problem it is imperative that we all, as a community, understand and agree on some basics. One key to our children’s success is proper Chinuch. Without education our children are missing the foundation to success in life. Education is a responsibility of both parents and the community. The community has an obligation to make sure education is affordable to every parent. Likewise, parents must know that they have to do whatever they can so their children can have the best education.

Once we agree that it is a personal and communal obligation, we must deal with the realities of life. What can we do about the cost of education? How do we deal with the expense?

Gimmel Tammuz Farbrengen in Bais Rivkah

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — The central Gimmel Tamuz Farbrengen at Campus Chamesh on Lefferts Avenue organized by the International Agudas Chassidei Chabad was joined by a huge crowd of over 3000 Anash and Tmimim, many of whom arrived especially from abroad to spend this auspicious day in the ‘Daled Amos’ of the Rebbe.
