Hanover, NH — Hillel and Chabad, the two Jewish organizations on campus, served a mass home-cooked Shabbat meal to more than 200 students and 20 professors and administrators on Friday night in Alumni Hall.

“In Judaism there’s no better way to come together than over food,” Chabad Rabbi Moshe Leib Gray said.

Los Angeles, CA — A woman was in custody Tuesday in lieu of $250,000 bail for allegedly driving a truck that fatally injured a man in West Hollywood, authorities said. Lindsay Rae Ellingsworth, 27, was arrested Monday at her office in Century City and booked for “hit-and-run causing death,” said Deputy Denise Fuchs of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Early Morning Fire Tears Through Home

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 2:20 last night a fire broke out in the basement of a home at 1607 Carroll Street between Schenectady and Utica. FDNY arrived on scene within minutes and immediately began battling the fire, the cause of which remains under investigation, which they had subdued shortly after their arrival.

To say that I enjoy visiting small Hungarian villages looking for that one lonely Jew would be a lie. Demanding, exhausting and nerve-racking would be the honest way to describe it. Even If I did find that one Jew living alone in some old eastern european house,in a village filled with the aroma of goulash and grantetush. I don’t speak Hungarian nor do they speak Hebrew, Yiddish or  English, so communication consisted of me asking are you Jewish in Broken Hungarian, showing them Tefilin and getting back on the road for another two hour drive.
