The Tzivos Hashem Kids Magazine Arrives!

Over 250,000 Kids Magazines arrived yesterday to the Jewish Children’s Museum, in Brooklyn, NY. The sea of boxes, featuring the Tishrei Edition, is scheduled to arrive in Shluchims’ hands just in time for the High Holidays. Shipped all over the world, the Kids Magazine features 28 glossy pages of interactive information and fun.

New Shluchim to Connecticut

Rabbi Shlame and Mrs Miriam Landa of Crown Heights will IYH be moving on Shlichus to Fairfield, CT where they will establish a new Chabad House serving the needs of the local Jewish Community.

The new Shluchim were appointed by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Kantor and Rabbi Yisroel Deren.

The Weekly Sedra – The Shofar

The Rebbe says:

1. Beginning from Rosh Chodesh Elul (the first day of the Hebrew month of Elul) until Rosh Hashanah (the New Year) [1] we blow the Shofar [2] everyday to arouse us to repent and bring ourselves closer to Hashem (G-d).

More specifically, the Shofar awakens a fear of Hashem in our hearts.

2. The Rebbe now points out the difference between the blowing the Shofar during the month of Elul and on Rosh Hashanah:

Omsk, Russia — This week in Omsk, the ‘Achdut’ Newspaper issued by the local Jewish community held a meeting involving local Jews and 18 of their ‘heroes’. These individuals all seem to be familiar to local residents since these admirable individuals were all featured, one at a time, in the pages of ‘Achdut’ in the section “Interview of the Month” over the past two years.

Truck crushes legs of beloved Brooklyn woman

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — A 16-wheeler struck an 84-year-old widow – crushing her legs – as she crossed a Brooklyn street pushing her shopping cart.

Harriet Evanter, a fixture in her Crown Heights neighborhood, was hit in a crosswalk on Nostrand Ave. about 8:49 a.m. Tuesday, police and witnesses said.

Cleveland, OH — Army Pfc. Daniel Agami was described as a fearless, patriotic soldier who never hesitated risking his life for his fellow soldiers.

Agami also had a love for Iraqi children. He gave them candy and toys, and helped build their schools. The children seemed to love him, too, his family said.

Belarus Jewish Community Celebrates 1st Brit Mila

Nelson is Out and Terrorizing us Again

CrownHeights.info and Shomrim are turning to the general public in a request to please keep an extra eye out for this man.

He is known as Derrik Nelson, he is the perpetrator behind dozens upon dozens of car break-ins causing damages in the tens of thousands of dollars to cars in our community along with the added aggravation and inconvenience of needing to fix the damage. Due to the nature of the crime which is classified as a GLA (Grand Larceny Auto) which is a crime that carries a little if any jail time.

Shomrim are out every night patrolling our streets but they still need the publics help, if you see him or anyone lurking around and suspicious call the Shomrim hotline at (718) 774-3333 at anytime to alert patrolling members to keep an extra eye on him and prevent this slew of break-ins.
