North Miami Beach, Fla.'s, Skylake Synagogue sustained heavy fire and smoke damage last week when its kitchen went up in flames. Children were learning upstairs in the Hebrew School at the time, but according to synagogue Rabbi Rafi Rosenberg, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Skylake, everyone made it out of the building in time.

A seasoned businessman, who for many years earned his living in the lumber industry, was getting on in age. He decided to turn his business over to his sons, who were more than happy to step in. Having little experience in this field, the novices were careful to consult their elderly father before every major decision. Alternate Side Parking Rules Suspended Friday
Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations will be suspended on Friday, December 21, for holiday observance. All other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

R. Zev and his wife Rochel Simons OBM were killed this morning in a horrific crash in Australia. This news leaves the community in Sydney in shock and great pain. The crash took place on the Hume Highway which travels from Sydney to Melbourne, at 11:45am.
The couple, in their late 40s and early 50s, where both killed when their car was involved in a head on collision with a semi-trailer, carrying 43,000 liters of gas in cylinders. The driver of the truck was also killed. Two other cars were involved in the collision but the vehicles occupants escaped with minor injuries.

Over 1500 Attend the Annual Colel Chabad Dinner
NEW YORK, NY [CHI] — The International Awards Dinner of Colel Chabad was a highly-charged and powerful event held in the New York Hilton on Wednesday, December 19th, the 10th Tevet. The event benefits the oldest Lubavitch institution in the world, founded by the Baal HaTanya, the Alter Rebbe. Colel Chabad has been headed by each Chabad Rebbe since.

Two Days, Two Accidents with same Truck
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – Two accidents in two days, both involving the same truck and both in the same place, earlier this week. The incidents happened in front of the Family Dollar store on Lefferts Avenue and Kingston Avenue.

Camp Gan Israel Tzeirei Hashluchim in Oracle, Arizona is in full session
ORACLE, AZ [CHI] — Camp Tzeirei Hashluchim in Oracle, Arizona is already eight days in progress. The children arrived from around the world to Phoenix Airport. As the many on-line school children were introduced to one another in the terminal, they were able to meet the friends they already new so well by name but never met them face to face. As one camper excitedly shouted after he heard the name of a child arriving “You must be my Chavrusa!” Most of the Shluchim in the camp learn in the Shluchim Office on-line school and don’t have the opportunity to spend time Davening, learning, talking and playing with other Chassidishe children.
