CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – In a night of mischief and violence, Shomrim reported a less then average egg throwing incidents, yet logged over 30 calls of residents calling for assistance and escort.

A Shomrim spokesperson credited the reduction to residents being more aware to the potential dangers, by reports of CrownHeights.info and other news outlets. He also added that Shomrim averaged a one minute and under response time to calls, which he credited to the 5 active vehicle patrols from night fall to 1:00am.

HOUSTON, TX — The number of Jewish Day Schools in the U.S. has been on the rise for som time now. The AVI CHAI Foundation’s census of Jewish Day Schools count 759 in the 2003-2004 school year, with 80 new schools opened since five year earlier.

BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — Every year during the Kinus Hashluchim, there is a plethora of workshops offered to shluchim giving them an opportunity to further develop their skills in an array of areas pertaining to shlichus.

This year, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and the Vaad Hakinus announced a packed schedule of seminars and workshops conducted by experts covering all areas relevant to shlichus. Some of the instructors this year including Rabbi Mendel Duchman on fundraising, Rabbi Laibe Morcowitz on Chinuch, etc.

Jewish Community Promotes Inter-Ethnic Accord

S. PETERSBURG, Russia — This week in Russia’s northern capital, the City Administration and community groups hosted the public campaign “March Against Hate”. Mark Grubarg, the Chairman of the Jewish community of S. Petersburg, took part in this event – a gathering whose objective is to demonstrate against inter-ethnic and inter-religious hatred. This movement was inspired by the memory of renowned ethnographer Nikolai Girenko, who was brutally murdered by nationalists in 2004.

Thousands to Attend International Conference of Shluchim in New York Next Week

Thousands turned out for the banquet at last year’s International Conference of Shluchim.

BROOKLYN, NY — Last minute preparations are proceeding at full pace at Lubavitch World Headquarters in New York as the clock ticks down until the annual International Conference of Shluchim. The conference, known among the Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries who attend simply as the kinus ñ an abbreviated form of its name in Hebrew ñ begins Nov. 7. For five days, almost 3,000 shluchim from all over the world will attend sessions and share strategies about how best to reach Jews in every corner of the globe.

Torah Dedication Ceremony in Maryland

The Torah dedication is in honor of the fourth Yortziet of R. Moshe Noach ben R. Shloime and his wife Devorah Raizel bas R. Yitzchok OB”M. The event will take place and the Torah is being donated to the ‘Chabad Israeli Center of Rockville, MD’ at 216 Rollings Ave, Rockville, MD. IYH this Sunday, November 4th 12 PM.
