NEW YORK, NY [CHI] — This is the second gallery from the Kinus HaShluchim at pier 94. In this gallery the banquet begins, with the nearly 500 kids from the ‘Yaldei HaShluchim’ camp marching in singing with the band. Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky then welcomed everybody to the banquet and asked Rabbi Halperin and Rabbi Begun to say the kaptilach of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin.

Ticket Blitz in Crown Heights Leaves Residents Fuming

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Ticket blitzing in Crown Heights isn’t unfamiliar, though this time it’s the timing that has resident up in arms.

With the International Conference of Shluchim underway in Crown Heights, police have added lots of extra patrols, both by foot and by car, with the addition of car 1733, also known as the ticket car.

Friday was Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, celebrating the triumph of good, represented by Lord Rama, over the forces of evil. It is a holiday that thrills some of my friends. Not that they are Hindus themselves.

The three-day Islamic feasts of Id al-Fitr and Id al-Adha thrill them, too. They aren’t Muslims, either.

They are, in the main, Christians and Jews. Most of them are not the sort to be found in church or synagogue every Sunday or Saturday morning. But they derive enormous satisfaction from holy days like the Feast of the Assumption or from a days-long Jewish festival like Passover.

Seven New Shluchim Announced at the Roll Call
