Two Years to the Murder of Reb Efraim Klein HY”D

It was two years ago, the 30th of Shvat, February 28th 2006, when R. Efraim Klein HY”D was murdered in cold blood on the streets of Crown Heights. He had gone out in order to move his minivan to avoid having to move it later for alternate side parking regulations the next day. He was 47 years old.

He was shot through the window of his car, and was later pronounced dead in Kings County Hospital. His son was set to have his wedding the following week. The investigation by the NYPD has ‘gone cold’ according to a source in Crown Heights’s 71st Pct.

Police marked the anniversary of his death by distributing posters and flyers around the neighborhood and the area of the crime, in hopes to get new leads on the case which has long gone cold.

These years as we know are the forming years of a child’s growth in yiddishkeit, they make it in the right environment, or break it, c”v.

“I don’t know if I will ever be able to share my experiences with the Rebbe,” says Mrs. Chaya Kahan, from Kfar Chabad Israel, “because I will never have enough words to describe how much he looked after me and guided me, every step of my life.” She enjoyed a unique relationship with the Rebbe. At age six her daughter Rivka had written to him a sweet and simple letter, and received a sweet and charming response.
