Young Chevra Shabbaton – Stuck in the snow?
RUNNING SPRINGS, CA [CHI] — So many chassidic stories involve the trials and travails of Jews stuck in the frigid white snow of the siberian winter. Hearing about the commitment of our brothers and sisters from an era gone by in celebrating yiddishkeit under such dire circumstances generates a deep sense of inspiration for all those that listen.

WASHINGTON, DC [CHI] — In what is the largest step forward in decades in the effort to free the Rebbe's Seforim and Kesovim from captivity in Russia to its rightful home in 770, the United States Court of Appeals granted Agudas Chasidei Chabad a victory on all arguments and appeals!
The “Schneerson Archive” are the Kesovim that the Frierdiker Rebbe managed to take with him when he fled Russia in 1927, but were later seized by the Nazis, and then again stolen and secretly taken back to Moscow by the Russians. The “Schneerson Library” are the Seforim that were stolen by the Russians in 1917 and which remained in Russia when the Frierdiker Rebbe fled in 1927.

Tanzania Mountain Journey Tests the Strength of Jewish Londoners and Israelis
The night before his 14-hour hike up Mount Meru ñ a nearly 15,000-foot tall volcano in Tanzania’s scenic Arusha National Park ñ Dr. Itamar Shein couldn’t sleep.
“Is this altitude, attitude or just anxiety?” the Londoner wrote in his journal.

Torah Scroll theft in Missouri similar to Kenosha theft
KENOSHA, WI — Police are investigating the theft of a $30,000 Torah scroll from a St. Louis-area synagogue, a case that is similar to the theft in April of two Torah scrolls valued at $40,000 to $60,000 each from an Orthodox synagogue in Kenosha. Authorities are investigating whether there are connections between those two cases and three other thefts of the sacred Jewish scrolls in different parts of the country.

A joyous farbrengen was held one evening at the humble home of Rabbi Shmuel Betzalel Sheftel (The 'Rashbatz'). For hours the group of Chassidim sat, toasting L'chayim's, singing, talking, rebuking and inspiring one another. As the clock marked the passing of the night, the meager platters of 'Farbeisen' (food with which to follow up the L'chayim vodka) ran out, so Rabbi Shmuel Betzalel instructed that the lamb being raised in his yard be slaughtered. A hot stew was prepared to fuel the Farbeisen for many an hour to come.
The next morning Rabbi Shmuel Betzalel's wife came in from the yard with the distressing news that the lamb – which constituted the whole of the 'family ranch' – had disappeared! Said Rabbi Shmuel Betzalel: “No, no, the lamb has not disappeared. The lamb is very much here, it has only changed its sound. Yesterday it said meh-eh-eh. . ., today it is saying Echo-o-d. . ., O-o-one. . . ” (as in G-d is one).

As the media (including many Jewish outlets) continue to report as fact, many baseless rumors and every negative allegation they can find regarding the Agriprocessors plant in Iowa, we feel compelled to bring to light some qualities of the Rubashkin family which the media fails to report.
We serve as Jewish leaders in our respective communities and are first hand witnesses of the kindness and selfless concern that the Rubashkin family, led by the Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, show for thousands of communities, families and individuals around the world. We live in areas with a miniscule kosher clientele, where Kosher meat and poultry is difficult to find. Knowing the importance of the Mitzvah of Kashrut, and appreciating its fundamental place in Jewish life, as emphasized by our mentor the Lubavitcher Rebbe zy"a, the Rubashkin Family always goes out of its way to ensure that the Jewish families in our outlying and far-flung communities receive quality service and fresh products that we so greatly need.
