MONTREAL , Canada — It’s hard for Avraham to speak about his battle with chemical dependency without choking up.

The 26-year-old said that before he came to the Chabad Project Pride-Centre Lifeline in Montreal four months ago, he had almost lost everything. Avraham ñ like all of the recovering addicts interviewed for this article, he preferred that his real name not be used ñ was convinced that his drug addiction had made him incapable of being helped.

Jewish Summer Camp Concludes in West Siberia

She left behind many children and grandchildren, and great children who are Shluchim and Shluchos around the world.

The Levaya will take place today, Tuesday afternoon, and will pass 770 at around 3:00 PM.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — In what was the first of its kind; over 100 boys from 1st through 4th grades memorized the entire 1st perek of Tanya and the rest of the boys are not far behind.

The plan is that every year the boys learn at least 1 perek so by the time they near their Bar Mitzvah they will already be fluent in most of the 1st 12 prokim. The first year of this pilot program has been fantastic, with most boys completing the entire first perek by heart!

Move to Restrict Free Travel Passes Creates Rare Controversy for MTA Board

NEW YORK, NY — A revolt over free travel appeared to be brewing Wednesday on the normally docile board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, as several board members said they opposed a move backed by their own chairman to restrict their use of free E-ZPass tags and transit and commuter rail passes.

“I would say it’s probably going to be voted down,” said David S. Mack, a vice chairman of the authority, referring to a resolution that will come before the board next week to curtail its own perks. “The board is not happy.”

Police Catch 3 Assailants for Macing Bochurim

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Sunday at around 7:30pm two Bochurim on their way to yeshiva were maced by a group of 3 young Black teens. The incident took place as the Bochurim were approaching the corner of Montgomery St and Troy Ave where the group was playing with a can of mace and sprayed at the two Bochurim, hitting one in the mouth and the other in the eye.

As the Bochurim continued walking, they saw a police officer posted at the corner and alerted him to as what had taken place, the police officer responded by running over to the group and apprehended the three youngsters, and had a police car respond to the scene to take the suspects back to the station house.
