‘I Tried To Save Him!’ Teen Thug Says

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Dean Henry Pinkham lights the candle of Columbia University President Lee Bollinger at a memorial service for Minghui Yu, a graduate student struck and killed by a car after being beaten by a 14 year old thug last Friday.

Ed. Note: Just note how the 14 year old here is being charged with manslaughter, which means he caused the death of his victim. This should serve as a wakeup call that teens that perpetrate crime should be held just as serious as any crime, and not looked at in a lax manner. Like the incident where police arrested Shomrim members in just this type of an incident.

The teen accused of attacking a Columbia grad student claims he tried to stop him from running into traffic, where he was killed, a detective testified Thursday.

After ambushing and pummeling Minghui Yu, the 14-year-old thug “attempted to grab Mr. Yu to keep him from going into traffic,” NYPD Detective John Garvey said, recounting the teen’s statements. “Mr. Yu pushed him off and ran.”

Construction of Ritual Bath a Complicated Project

By Joshua Runyan – Chabad.org

Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbis Gershon Grossbaum and Hirshy Minkowitz review the plans for a new mikvah in Alpheretta, Ga.

ALPHERETTA, GA — Building a Jewish ritual bath is no easy feat. Besides the city permits and zoning issues to resolve, not to mention the fundraising – some mikvahs can cost upwards of $200,000 to build – the process is frequently bogged down by unexpected obstacles. In Colorado Springs, Colo., for instance, crews had to anchor 35-foot steel piers into the foundation of Chabad-Lubavitch of Southern Colorado’s new mikvah because of the surrounding clay.
