200 Attorneys and Judges attend Chabad’s 2nd Annual Jewish Law Symposium

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ [CHI] — On Tuesday, June 17th, an overflow crowd of 200 attorneys and judges packed The Madison Hotel in Morris Township to attend Chabad of SE Morris County’s 2nd Annual Jewish Law Symposium.

Lubavitcher Yeshiva Chovevei Torah Announces this Year’s Talmidim HaShluchim

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — This year Chovevei Torah has selected 16 Bochurim who will be dispatched to Yeshivos around the world as Talmidim HaShluchim and will provide more personal attention in the learning environment as well as assist in the Mivtzoim Programs.

Yesterday the Menahel Ruchny R. Kalmen Wienfeld took the list of Bochurim to the Ohel and the Rebbes Room, followed by a meeting with R. Dovid Raskin, Menahel of the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva, who pointed out the Rebbe’s terms for Bochurim going out on Shlichus.

MONTREAL , Canada — It’s hard for Avraham to speak about his battle with chemical dependency without choking up.

The 26-year-old said that before he came to the Chabad Project Pride-Centre Lifeline in Montreal four months ago, he had almost lost everything. Avraham ñ like all of the recovering addicts interviewed for this article, he preferred that his real name not be used ñ was convinced that his drug addiction had made him incapable of being helped.

Jewish Summer Camp Concludes in West Siberia

OMSK, Russia — In western Siberia, the Jewish community of Omsk has concluded a summer camp for children in the first through fifth grades at the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School and other state-run schools in the city. This retreat certainly gave the youngsters the opportunity to become better acquainted with Jewish traditions and lifestyle.

She left behind many children and grandchildren, and great children who are Shluchim and Shluchos around the world.

The Levaya will take place today, Tuesday afternoon, and will pass 770 at around 3:00 PM.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — In what was the first of its kind; over 100 boys from 1st through 4th grades memorized the entire 1st perek of Tanya and the rest of the boys are not far behind.

The plan is that every year the boys learn at least 1 perek so by the time they near their Bar Mitzvah they will already be fluent in most of the 1st 12 prokim. The first year of this pilot program has been fantastic, with most boys completing the entire first perek by heart!

Doctors ‘Optimistic’ About Condition of Jewish Teenager Severely Attacked by Gang

PARIS, France [EJP] — The Jewish teenager who was severely beaten by a gang of youths on Saturday after leaving the synagogue is still in an artificial coma but he is in an “better condition.”

“He will wake up progressively and doctors are optimistic,” Sammy Ghozlan, head of the National Vigilance Bureau Against Anti-Semitism, told EJP Monday afternoon after visiting Rudy Haddad at the Cochin hospital.

New Rabbinical graduates in Miami

MIAMI BEACH, FL — The French Jewish community in Miami Beach, Florida, celebrated the graduation of 12 new Rabbis-Temimim who received their ordination from the local Semicha Institute. During the ceremony the community also saluted Rabbi Yisroel Frankfurter who has been helping and developing the French community there for the past 16 years.
