Boruch Dayan Hoemes – R. Yosef Yitzchok Raichik OBM

With great sadness and pain we inform you of the untimely passing of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Raichik OBM of Kfar Chabad at the age of 55, after suffering a sudden short illness.

R. Yosef is the son of Rabbi Shmuel Dovid Raichik OBM who was the first Shliach to California, R. Yosef was also a member of Aguc”h and Tzac”h in Israel and gave himself over to bringing the children from Chernobol to Israel, his efforts were widely recognized in the UN.

He leaves behind his wife, children and siblings.

The Levaya will take place at 1:00pm [Israel Time] from his home in Kfar Chabad and from there will make its way to Har Hamenuchos.

Slichos at Chabad of West Hempstead, Long Island under the directorship of Rabbi Yossi Leiberman, this year held something special, it had a Minyan of local residents, in addition to the Crown Heights visitors. The service was lead by R. Yossi Lifshitz who was Chazzan.

750 Shluchim Participate in a High Holiday, Sukkos and Simchas Torah Seminar

ENCINO, CA [CHI] — Last week at Chabad of Encino, California there took place a High Holiday, Sukkos and Simchas Torah seminar – with over 750 Shluchim participating via live broadcast on ShluchimExchange.com and 40 Shluchim in physical attendance. The event began at 1:00 pm with opening words by the director of Chabad of the Valley, Rabbi Joshua B. Gordon and culminated with a Farbrengen by Rabbi Yosef Shusterman, Shliach to Beverly Hills and Chaver Vaad Rabonei Lubavitch, at close to 12:00 midnight.

Visitors must creep around to the side of the building on Vail Avenue in Redondo Beach, where a wide staircase lined with flowers and plants provides a private entrance to an 1,100-square-foot former basement.

This Sunday, September 21st there will be a Siyum Sefer Torah, This Torah was written in loving memory of Yitzchok Shmuel ben Reb Yehudah and Chanah Brachcah bas Reb Isser Backer OBM

The Siyum will take place at 2:00pm at the Backers home 1404 President Street [between Kingston and Brooklyn Ave.].

Off Duty Police Officer Injured in Crash

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A bad crash left a car on a sidewalk with its driver injured. The incident happened in the intersection of Crown and Schenectady at around 1:00am last night, it appeared that one car struck the other and sent it out of control and onto the sidewalk.

Shomrim members who were in the vicinity heard the sound of the crash nearly two blocks away, and ran over to the scene, arriving a mere seconds after the crash where they discovered that the driver of the car on the sidewalk, a red Honda, was being driven by an off duty NYPD officer who was on her way home for her shift.

Sunday: Siyum Sefer Torah at Bais Shmuel

This Sunday, September 21, Chof Alef Elul, Bais Shmuel Siyum is dedicating a Torah in honor of the life and legacy of The Rebbe. The Torah will be completed at the side courtyard of 770 at 2:00pm, the parade and dancing from 770 to Bais Shmuel will start at 4:00pm and Hakofos will be at 5:00pm.

Oholei Torah Continues to Lead the Way

BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — Chinuch is an ongoing and growing experience, constantly in need of new initiatives. This is especially true at the Rebbe’s yeshiva, where everything must be based on true chassidishe values.
 
Over half a century old, Educational Institute Oholei Torah does not rest on its laurels, and continues to look for better ways to empower its melamdim and scholastic staff, giving them the tools and resources needed to improve and raise the levels of chinuch, derech eretz and hiskashrus to the Rebbe.
