Light of Recognition: Public Menorah Lighting Believed a First for Loveland
LOVELAND, CO — Rabbi Yerachmiel Gorelik was thrilled to have a standing-room-only crowd at possibly Loveland’s first public menorah lighting at sundown Sunday.
“For the first time in Loveland, happy Hanukkah,” said Gorelik of the Chabad Jewish Center of Northern Colorado in Fort Collins.
Gorelik greeted the nearly 200 people at the Loveland Museum/Gallery. Cold weather caused the menorah lighting to be moved from Peters Park outside the building to the museum basement.
Gorelik showed a short video on the menorah, an eight-branch candelabrum used in the Jewish faith to symbolize hope, religious freedom and perseverance.

A jury also found the man, Dexter Bostic, 36, guilty of all the other charges he faced, including the attempted aggravated murder of Officer Timoshenko’s partner, Herman Yan, and three counts of illegal gun possession. He is to be sentenced in February.
Mr. Bostic’s was the second verdict in the trial of three men who face identical charges in the July 2007 shooting. The case was heard simultaneously by three separate juries. Earlier this week, Robert Ellis was acquitted of aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, delivering a stinging defeat for prosecutors, who had said that Mr. Ellis shot and wounded Officer Yan. Mr. Ellis was convicted on gun possession charges.

A Very Poweful Yud Tes Kislev at Rabbi O’s
TZFAS, Israel [CHI] — From the beginning of the farbrengen one could already feel the electricity in the air that would carry on until daybreak. After Ma’ariv the bochurim enjoyed a lavish Seudas Yom Tov where the Niggun of Podoh B’Shalom was sung followed by the Ma’amer Niggun. The Ma’amer of Podoh B’Shalom was split up between six bochurim where each bochur said over a part of the Ma’amer. What nachas it was to watch these bochurim say over the Ma’amer with full confidence, bochurim who never thought they could do it. A big yasher koach goes to Habochur Hatomim Yossi Weiss, Habochur Hatomim Shloime Litvin, Habochur Hatomim Eli Marks, Habochur Hatomim Shmuly Bonnardel, Habochur Hatomim Yossi Rubin and Habochur Hatomim Yedidya Rittri.
