Birkas HaChamah Ceremony and Event in Monroe

MONROE, NY [CHI] — Many local Orange County residents, from all walks of life, gathered on Wednesday morning, April 8th, at Chabad’s Monroe Location on Route 17m, to celebrate the rare Jewish practice of Birkat Hachamah, the blessing of the sun, performed only once every 28 years. It is recited on a specific Wednesday morning in the spring, when it is calculated that the sun returns to the same position in the sky it occupied at the time of Creation, and at the same time of the week, 5769 years ago.

Bloomberg said Monday in an interview that murderers “don’t read The Wall Street Journal.”

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The last day of Passover (“Acharon Shel Pesach”) is particularly associated with Moshiach and the future redemption. The Baal Shem Tov instituted the custom of partaking of a “Seudas Moshiach” (Moshiachs Meal) on the afternoon of the last day of Passover; in addition to the Matzah eaten at “ Seudas Moshiach”, the Rebbes of Chabad added the custom of drinking four cups of wine, as in the Seder held on Passover’s first days.
