Moshe Hammer: Art as Prayer, Prayer as Art
True genius is a rare commodity.
Five years ago, 26-year-old Moshe Hammer, z”l, a Lubavitch artist who frequently worked through the night, stepped outside for a walk in Los Angeles, to clear his head and recharge his creative batteries. As was his custom, Moshe rambled miles from his apartment in the Fairfax district.
New Sefer Torah Completed L’Zchus Gilad Shalit
ISRAEL [CHI] — A new Sefer Torah was recently completed L’Zchus captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit for his safe and speedy return together. The event was organized by IDF Shliach Rabbi Menachem Ofen together with members of Gilads armored unit with which he serves.
Everybody, myself very much included, has at least one opinion regarding the nature of the problems and who is to blame. However, continuing to discuss this, both online and in face to face conversation and debate, has done very little to solve any of the problems and may well serve only to create more machloikes.
On the other hand, there is a solution, admittedly one which is not practical for everyone and one which will not solve all of the problems, that has been overlooked, and that is – uforotzto – spread out!

Lately, much has been written about the problems, real, imagined, exaggerated, or, as I suspect, a combination of all three, which are facing Chabad.

The shiur is entitled “Why are we waiting?”, and will be given by Rabbi Yoseph Keller, author of Sefarim on Hilchos Beis Habechirah. The subject at hand is to understand why and if we are unable to build the third Beis Hamikdash today.
The shiurim will take place on Wednesday 23 Tammuz and Rosh Chodesh Tammuz (July 15th and July 22nd) at Beis Eliyahu Nochum, 672 Lefferts Ave at 9:15pm.

NEW YORK, NY — Mayor Michael Bloomberg is trying to make it easier for property owners to deal with graffiti. The Mayor and the City Council are working on new legislation that would place the graffiti removal process with the city.
This new legislation would allow the city to remove graffiti on a property without permission from the owner, unless the owner specifically says otherwise.

Picture of the Day! – What Happened to the JCM Mural?
This afternoon workers were spotted disassembling the mural in front of the Jewish Children’s Museum on Eastern Pkwy. CrownHeights.info has learned from sources in the Museum that the mural will be going back up soon. It was removed to be cleaned and reinforced.
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] –- Sunday afternoon Shomrim retrieved a bike which was stolen from a Jewish boy in Lefferts Park. Shomrim received the call from the victim stating that young black boy without a shirt stole the bike a fled from the park.
Shomrim members who were nearby the park went out in search for the bike, and with assistance from neighbors, both Jewish and non-Jewish the kid was spotted with the bike on Midwood Street and Kingston Avenue.
