New Sefer Torah Completed L’Zchus Gilad Shalit

ISRAEL [CHI] — A new Sefer Torah was recently completed L’Zchus captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit for his safe and speedy return together. The event was organized by IDF Shliach Rabbi Menachem Ofen together with members of Gilads armored unit with which he serves.

Gilad has been held in captivity since June of 2006, and is believed to be alive. Shalit held the rank of Corporal when he was captured, but has since been promoted to Staff Sergeant.
