The Obama administration may have offended a significant number of Israelis by releasing a photo of the President displaying the soles of his shoes, rested atop the Resolute desk while on a call with the Israeli premier. To Middle Easterners, showing the bottom of ones shoes is considered a low insult. Yet, whether or not the President meant any harm or hint in his casual pose, it is certainly insulting to the office of the President to be captured in that position.

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Sunday afternoon, Reb Michoel’s Minyan hosted a Siyum Sefer Torah honoring the life and legacy of Rabbi Michoel Tietelbaum OBM. The writing of the last letters began at Oholei Torah Mesivta, followed by the traditional procession which proceed up Troy Ave onto Crown St where the talmidim of Lubavitcher Yeshiva and Darcha Menachem joined the tahalucha. The parade then proceeded to Kingston Ave to the front of 770, where Hakofos took place.

Attempted Break-in Friday Afternoon

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Friday afternoon, a woman preparing for Shabbos was startled when someone tried gain access to her house through the back door. The incident took place at 3:00pm, in the alleyway of Carroll and Crown St between Albany and Troy Ave.

Five Towns Gan Chamesh’s Preschool March in Parade

CEDARHURST, NY [CHI] — Friday morning parents and families gathere in the Five Towns to watch Gan Chamesh preschool students march in their annual year end graduation parade. The students marched from the Chabad House and through the streets Five Towns. Each class marched to the tune of another country. Local Shluchim Rabbi Zalman and Chanie Wolowik and Meir and Hadassah Geisinsky run the preschool.

Cyclist Struck and Seriously Injured on Empire

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Friday morning a bicyclist was struck by a car and seriously injured. The victim, a Lubavitcher man on his way to work, was found by Hatzalah face down near the intersection of Rogers Avenue and Empire Boulevard as he was just regaining consciousness.
