If you’re wondering what prompts the preceding invocation of thanksgiving and gratitude – normally reserved for particularly pleasing intermittent occurrences – that’s a good sign. It means that you’ve taken the bait. But don’t feel too bad, you can be sure that there is more to the invocation of this prayer, at this seemingly mundane and uneventful time of year, than mere attention grabbing.
The reason for the Shehecheyanu is because I, among others, have experienced this week something more moving and more pleasing than anything I have witnessed in my entire half century of residency in this world. I offer the Shehecheyanu in recognition of that deep soul rending occurrence.
MONSEY — This past Wednesday night, the Cheder held its first boys 8th grade graduation. Rabbi Wolowik welcomed everyone and introduced Mendel Jacobs, a talmid of 8th grade to act as MC. In a candid discussion about contemporary issues facing todays young single Bochurim, the Besht center hosted Rabbi Manis Freidman and Rabbi Yossi Paltiel who discussed those issues openly, and event created a firestorm of a discussion on the issue.

The Besht Center is offering two exciting learning opportunities.
1. The Rebbe Chossid relationship, an exploration of the Mamer Zos Chukas with Harav Leibke Kaplan.
The public voted for the top 14 finalists who will partake in a 3 step final challenge. The third challenge, titled “The Brighter Side”, requires each contestant to take a themed original photo that can be seen in the Extended Article.
Horav Hachossid, Dr. Nissan Mindel (2nd of Nissan 5672-1912- 12th of Tamuz 5759-1999) was born in 5672-1912 on the 2nd of Nissan, in Riga, Latvia, to Horav Yaakov Yitzchak and Mrs. Bunya Mindel. At the age of fifteen, he was studying in the Yeshiva Torah Im Derech Eretz which combined Torah studies and secular subjects, and was under the direction of Horav Chaim Mordechai Hodokov. The curriculum was based on the teachings of Horav Shimshon Rafael Hirsch and encouraged the older students to continue their studies in the university and at the same time to stay connected to Torah, Mitzvos and Yiras Shomayim.
