Dayan Rules: Three Candidate Run-Off Elections Next Week

CROWN HEIGHTS — Next week Tuesday, July 6th, run-off elections will be held for the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council “Vaad”. In a ruling issued by the Dayan, Rabbi Avrohom B Rosenberg stated that each resident will receive two votes; to be cast between Shea Hecht, Fishel Brownstein, and Yossi Hackner.

The 17th of Tammuz is a fast day, which is devoted to mourning the breaching of Jerusalem’s walls and the other tragic events that occurred on this day, and repenting and rectifying their causes. We refrain from all food and drink from “daybreak” (about an hour before sunrise, depending on location) until nightfall. Special prayers and Torah readings are added to the day’s services.

Released Time Program Ends Another Successful Year

During this past end-of-school-year week, the Jewish Released Time program hosted dozens end of year celebrations and graduations for the hundreds of children who attend the weekly Jewish Hour.
