NEW YORK [WABC] — Precipitation early Tuesday morning has been fairly light across the mid-Atlantic states and in the Northeast. A shortwave, or ripple of upper-level energy, will be pressing eastward across the Great Lakes and into upstate New York and western New England today. This will tend to enhance snowfall rates after 5 a.m. in areas such as in the Poconos and the Catskills, as well as in northwestern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and southern New England.

Alum Donates $1 Million to New Chabad at Yale Building

At 8,500 square feet, Yale University’s new Chabad House will be eight times the size of the organization’s current digs.

When private investor Brad Berger first stepped into Yale University’s Chabad House for a Friday night dinner during a trip back east two years ago, he was taken aback. He had heard about the throngs of Jewish students who sought out a “home away from home” at the center run by Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Shua and Sara Rosenstein, but this was the first time he had actually experienced such a thing at his alma mater.

On any given Shabbos at Chabad of Markham, Ontario, seven year-old Zalmy Plotkin is walking around giving out high fives. This is his way of helping his parents accomplish their Shlichus. You see, Zalmy has Down syndrome, yet he is an integral partner in his parents’ work.

The seminar was organized by Brooklyn college student Yosef Bergovoy and law graduate Eliyahu Federman. The presenters included Federman, Attorney Norman Siegel and Earl Ward, District Attorney counsel Lance P. Ogiste along with Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries and Senator Eric Adams. Community members found the presentation informative, empowering and inspiring.

This time around Frosty got a bit of a makeover. Instead of paper, the snowman is sporting a hat made from an old pool.

Selfish Parking Makes Driving in CH Impossible

Absolutely no reason at all! A sedan which has another two feet to back-up and a 4×4 SUV both hang out into Albany Avenue traffic.

A typical trip from the parking lot of Beis Rivkah on Crown Street to Carroll and Troy should take no longer then 5 minutes, but thanks to inconsiderate motorists along with construction projects around our neighborhood that trip took over 20 minutes.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was the victim of a shooting on January 8, 2011, was declared dead prematurely by a number of media outlets.

NPR was reporting definitively that Representative Gabrielle Giffords had been shot dead, but The Associated Press was holding off. The lines into the A.P. offices, recalled A.P.’s executive editor, Kathleen Carroll, were buzzing with complaints: where was The A.P. on this story? How could it let NPR beat it?

Meanwhile, the lines into the New York Times offices were hot as well, said Greg Brock, senior editor/standards: where was The Times on this story?
