Writings of Persecuted Rabbi Released for First Time

Rabbi Ezriel Chaikin reviews documents he smuggled out of the Soviet Union at the age of 14.

The writings and transcribed lectures of Rabbi Meir Chaim Chaikin, a Talmudic scholar who endured Soviet labor camps for three years as punishment for his clandestine efforts to strengthen Jewish life, have for the first time been published, released under the title Tiferes Ezriel in keeping with the author’s directive shortly before his 1966 passing.

Barry Honig is running as the Republican candidate for mayor of Tenefly, NJ. Members of the local Chabad house run by Rabbi Mordechai Shain know Barry as the man who runs the Tenafly Chabad Free Loan Association, a well known community program that help those in need without making them resort to charity.

Boruch Dayan Hoemes – Rabbi Aaron Chitrik OBM

With sadness we inform you of the passing of HaRav HaChossid, HaRav HaTomim Rabbi Aaron ben HaRav Yehuda Chitrik OBM of Crown Heights at age 73. Rabbi Chitrik was the director of the editorial board of the Hebrew Department of Vaad Kisvei Kodesh which was responsible for publishing the Chassidus Seforim of the Rebbeim.

He is survived by his dear wife Slava and son Hershey Chitrik (Crown Heights / Miami), and daughter Mrs. Rochel Gross (Crown Heights), as well as his brother Tzvi Hersh Chitrik (Crown Heights), and sisters Mrs. Chaya Lieberman (Belgium) and Mrs. Shaindel Schneerson (Brooklyn). He was predeceased by his son Shmully.

Schach Pickup Information

The Crown Heights JCC has once again arranged with the Forestry division of the NYC Parks Dept. to have all the S’chach picked up. During the next few days, the S’chach will be picked up by the local Sanitation Dept. on the regular garbage pick up days for your block. Please put the S’chach in the area where your regular household garbage is being picked up. If you put your garbage in front of your house, please put your S’chach along the curbside.
