Student Fashion Show Celebrates Jewish Femininity

Ever ready to showcase student talent and emphasize Jewish ideas, the Chabad House for Students of the Arts created ‘Inner Expressions,’ a unique student fashion show, to inspire students and the greater Jewish community of Philadelphia about the essence of Jewish femininity. 500 Supporters Celebrate with Chabad of Alaska

The Eighth Annual Auction of Chabad in Alaska has attracted again more than 500 business leaders and government officials thanks to the hard work of the friends of Chabad in Alaska, Gala Co-Chairs, Liz Ashlock and Shani Green. The “Event of the Year” in Alaska took place at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage and raised funds in support of the Esformes Campus in Alaska, which includes Chabad House, Synagogue, School, and Jewish Museum, led by the Shluchim Rabbi Yosef and Esty Greenberg.

Besht Launches New Weekly Gemara Shiur

Starting today, the Besht Center will be hosting a weekly shiur on Gemara every Tuesday. The Shiur will be given by a renowned Torah scholar, and will be connected to the Parshah of the week. Today’s shiur will be given by Rabbi Shmuel Kuperman, and will be on the subject “Can one transfer ownership of an object which has not yet come into existence?”

Montreal Unites for Friendship

In unseasonably mild weather, The Friendship Circle’s recent Walk 4 Friendship drew more than one thousand participants and raised $430,000 to support its mission of continually cultivating friendships through their wide range of ever-evolving programming. Decked out in bright blue t-shirts, the walkers marched the symbolic 1.5 KM route around Hampstead Park allowing everyone to take part in the fun.

Jerusalem Vaad Tznius Member Heading to Prison

The High Court of Justice on Monday, 24 Cheshvan, rejected an appeal filed on behalf of Shmuel Weissfish, a member of the Geula neighborhood’s Vaad HaTznius. Shmuel was convicted of a number of acts of violence in targeting an area business that he deemed unsuitable. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment, which he will be beginning before Chanukah. In addition, he must reimburse the store’s owner for damage to the tune of 50,000 Shekels ($13,300).
