This Shabbos at the Besht, various speakers will lead discussions and Farbrengens all throughout the Shabbos, including: Rabbi Dov Greenberg (Stanford University), Rabbi Shais Taub (Crown Heights), Rabbi Yossi Lew (Atlanta, GA) and Rabbi Tzvi Freeman (Toronto, Canada). The Shabbos will culminate with a Melave Malka by the Besht’s very own Rabbi Mendel Kalmenson.

Wikileaks Reveals Mumbai US Consulate Cables

During the siege on Mumbai – this Sabbath will mark the third anniversary of its start – the US Consulate in the city were informed that Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg were taken to a hospital unconscious and their son is safe, Wikileaks documents reveal. It also shows that during one point after Nariman House were cleared, the consulate was unable to locate the body of Leibish Teitelbaum in the morgue with other victims, and it searched for it in hospitals and morgues.

TEMECULA, CA — The Chabad Jewish Center of Temecula finally has a home that’s not, well —- a home. For the last 12 years, Chabad has operated out of the home of Rabbi Yitzchok Hurwitz and his wife, Dina. Almost immediately after they moved into Temecula, they opened up their house for a Purim celebration.

Israel’s chief rabbi Yona Metzger is bringing home the bacon. His office says it is primed to allow import of an organic goose grown in Spain that tastes like pork. Metzger says three non-Jewish chefs confirm its swinish flavor. Jewish dietary law strictly forbids eating pork. Metzger’s office says there is no Jewish injunction against eating goose, no matter what it tastes like, as long as it is slaughtered according to Jewish ritual.
