The 32nd annual South Florida Chassidic Chanukah took place on the 7th Night of Chanukah , it was bigger and better than ever – and that’s saying a lot, since more than 10,000 people have participated each year since the event was moved to Gulfstream Park in 2007. Police estimated the crowd at anywhere between 12,000-13,000, with 10,000 people on the main level, and 2-3,000 people on the second and third mezzanine levels. It was a Who’s Who of Community Leaders who participated in the Chanukah Festival and Giant Menorah Lighting.
Brooklyn, NY [CHI] — After years of hardship and worry, the Spinka Chassidim were informed this morning that their Rebbe will be freed from his confinement in the Ottisville, NJ prison earlier than expected.

Oy-vey-izmir, here we go again. Park Slope and downtown Brooklyn was a bissel verklempt when it kicked off Hanukkah on Tuesday with twin menorah lightings that celebrated an ancient miracle — but also re-ignited one of the fiercest feuds since Nimrod and Abraham. And it all boils down to size — what else?

There was only one non-family member whom I highlighted under the Chupa (wedding canopy) of my daughter eight weeks ago. His name is Shneur Zalman Fellig and when I was a boy of ten, from a broken family with a broken heart, he helped me heal and inspired me in the ways of Chabad.
The Jerusalem District Court has approved the extradition to the United States of Hosam Amara, to face federal charges in connection with irregularities associated with the Agriprocessors kosher meat packing plant in Postville, Iowa, which went bankrupt after a 2008 raid by immigration authorities, in which nearly 400 illegal immigrants were rounded up.
The Coyotes vs Panthers hockey game last Tuesday was no ordinary game. Chabad of Florida performed a menorah-lighting ceremony on the ice during the first period intermission. The event looked nothing short of a huge Hanukka party. But the event itself was really quite ironic. How odd, I thought, to celebrate Hanukka in a sports arena, given that the concept of sports is emblematic of Greek culture.
On the 3rd day of Chanukah, Chabad of Southern Nevada led a Chanukah celebration with the recently elected Mayor of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman. It continued a tradition that began with her husband, former Mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman. During the celebration, the Mayor was presented with a Menorah as a Menorah of Freedom Award.
On Wednesday, December 21, the second night of Chanukah, the 8th Day Band rocked Ottawa!! It would not be a total understatement to say that they brought the house down. Everyone, and I mean everyone, from the Bubbies to the Babies who were there clapping, singing and even dancing in their seats.
MyShliach’s online photo contest will draw together hundreds of pictures of children doing the Rebbe’s shlichus all around the world.
Chabad lights the public menorah in Eisenhower Park on the 930-acre oasis of open space and recreation in the heart of Nassau County. Eisenhower Park is one of the largest public spaces in the New York metropolitan area – larger, in fact, than Central Park!
Every night of Channukah, 3 bouchurim: Saadia Weingarten, Gedalia Hertz and Yaakov Bennish, from Yeshiva Gedolah Lubavitch of London, distributed donuts and Menorahs at London’s Heathrow Airport.
