Crown Heights [CHI] — A fire broke out on the top floor of a high-rise apartment building early Thursday, right across the street from Bnos Menachem girls’ school. The fire has left an 89-year-old woman in critical condition.
Andrew Breitbart, a Los Angeles born Jew who became one of the faces of new media in America, died early Thursday morning according to a report on his website, Biggovernment.com.

Mayanot brought its unique brand of energy to Danbury Connecticut this past February. Alumni from across the United States joined together to celebrate Shabbat, take part in shiurim, farbreng and relive that special Mayanot spirit! Oholei Torah elementary school held a Siyum Harmabam marking the 30th annual Siyum since the daily Rambam study was instituted by the Rebbe. I am a Crown Heights girl born and bred. A few years ago I moved with my family to upstate to New York. Each time I come back to Crown Heights, I am sadden and shocked to see how our girls and women are moving away from Torah and Yiddishkeit (in their actions and in the way they are dressing). I have wondered why we are losing so many of our girls from the Torah way.
Howard Kissel, longtime theater critic for The New York Daily News, passed away on Friday in his Manhattan home. He was 69. During his long career, he served as chairman of both the New York Film Critics’ Circle and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle. Even after leaving the Daily News, he continued to blog regularly for both that site and The Huffington Post. His last post was only three days before his passing.
Today at around 3:00pm, a group of about ten 15-year-old public school teens crowded into the Sell-a-Bration stationary and toy store on Kingston Ave., and began to get rowdy. Fearing damage to his store and goods, Yisroel Greenberg politely requested that they exit the store and re-enter two at a time.

On Motzei Shabbos, February 11, 2012 Congregation Bais Shmuel-Chabad of Crown Heights, gathered for its 4th annual Melava Malka, celebrating ten years since its inception. The event honored its president and founder Rabbi Moshe Pinson and paid tribute his late mother Mrs. Rochel Pinson Z”L who passed away a short few months ago.
Amidst all the hustle and bustle during the recent women’s convention, the shluchos weren’t the only ones who were recognized for their outstanding service. MyShliach, a division of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch’s Suite 302, held a special girls’ event of appreciation this Chof Gimel Shevat for all the mentors who dedicate their time and effort to being mashpia on young shluchos around the world.
The Sanzer Rebbe is in the midst of a two-week visit to the United States. On Tuesday, he visited with Sholom Rubashkin in prison, along with other Jewish prisoners in the facility. He was there for four hours.
