Fortunate is the eye who beheld the scene at Sanborn Square in Boca Raton, FL on Sunday – the 6th night of Chanukah. In unprecedented fashion, thousands of men women and children joined together to celebrate the Festival of Lights amidst a palpable sensation of unity and joy. Carnival rides and food stalls were the initial order of the day for the throngs who began pouring upon the square in the early afternoon.

The 32nd annual South Florida Chassidic Chanukah took place on the 7th Night of Chanukah , it was bigger and better than ever – and that’s saying a lot, since more than 10,000 people have participated each year since the event was moved to Gulfstream Park in 2007. Police estimated the crowd at anywhere between 12,000-13,000, with 10,000 people on the main level, and 2-3,000 people on the second and third mezzanine levels. It was a Who’s Who of Community Leaders who participated in the Chanukah Festival and Giant Menorah Lighting.

The Jerusalem District Court has approved the extradition to the United States of Hosam Amara, to face federal charges in connection with irregularities associated with the Agriprocessors kosher meat packing plant in Postville, Iowa, which went bankrupt after a 2008 raid by immigration authorities, in which nearly 400 illegal immigrants were rounded up.
