This week, hundreds of thousands of Jews worldwide will read the Torah portion, Shoftim, “Judges,” which begins with the above verses. The parsha directs the Jewish people to establish a just rabbinic court system consisting of righteous judges, experts in Jewish law, unsoiled with bribery and corruption.

As every year, the campers of Gan Israel-Florida overnight camp worked on preparing a special and most befitting present for the Rebbe with their annual Mishnayos Be’Al Peh program; together, the campers learned and were tested on close to 30,000 lines of Mishnayos, Tanya, Siddur and Yediyos Kloliyos. This figure includes: 48 complete perakim, 651 Mishnas and 1,868 lines of Tanya.

As the summer draws to a close, campers attending Gan Yisroel in Parksville, NY bid farewell to their newly-found friends and dedicated counselors and teachers at the grand banquet. The next morning they packed their luggage and boarded the buses which would take them back home.

When the Jews moved en- masse to other neighborhood, our Rebbe told his Chassidim not to take part in the exodus, but to remain in Crown Heights. It was a frightful position, but the Chassidim stayed.
