Hundreds of supporters – most of whom were backpackers themselves at one time or another – gathered at the Diamond Theater in Ramat Gan, Israel, to pay tribute to the Kathmandu Chabad House that has provided a home away from home for the thousands of Jewish travelers who annually make their way through the Himalayan Mountains.

Bolivian Court Denies Bail for Jacob Ostreicher

A Bolivian court denied bail Thursday morning to Jacob Ostreicher, a Borough Park, Brooklyn resident who has been incarcerated without formal charges for more than a year. The bail hearing lasted nine grueling hours and was spread over two days while Jacob’s mother, a Holocaust survivor, sat through the entire process in the Bolivian courtroom along with her daughter, Jacob’s sister, both weeping uncontrollably.

Lubavitch of Scotland has launched an ad trailer for the coming month to remind people about the upcoming Yommim Tovim and of the activities of Lubavitch. They have also mounted two very large banners at busy intersections in the community, wishing people a shona tova and giving the dates of the Yomimim Tovim.
