Rabbi Yitzchok Moully with fellow artists at the gallery in Brooklyn that was featured in Oprah Winfrey’s new documentary on the hasidic community.

When a camera crew stopped in to film the exhibition of hasidic art he organized in Brooklyn during Sukkot last year, Rabbi Yitzchok Moully was pleased. When they mentioned that they were working with Oprah Winfrey on her documentary about hasidic life, he was, he said, intrigued — but not particularly excited.

Shabbaton Brings New Jewish Experiences to Many

It was a weekend of firsts for the 420 teens and shluchim attending the International Teen Shabbaton last Shabbos. At the Shabbaton banquet, Yarin Benaloul, the president of the CTeen’s boys division of Las Vegas Nevada, shared that his community has drastically changed as a result of the dedication of CTeen rabbi, “Rabbi Oz” AKA Chaim Ozer Metal.

A few months ago, shoppers walking along Kingston Ave. noticed something different on the block between Montgomery St. and Empire Blvd: Q-Cumber Café was closed. In its place was a hip new Pizza shop with a [not too] different name – Pomodori [Italian plural for Tomato].

Picture of the Day: A Red Telephone in 770

A new red box with a telephone was installed in downstairs 770 with a direct line to Hatzalah for use in case of an emergency. CrownHeights.info was told that this was done after the payphones had been removed and should Hatzalah’s assistance be needed, there is a way – aside from shouting – to call for their help.
