Chabad of North Brooklyn Forges Community Ties

On Sunday, February 26, an eclectic mix of 150 guests, among them artists, young professionals and black-hat Hasidic Jews gathered in a Williamsburg art gallery to celebrate the growth and expansion of Chabad of North Brooklyn. As kosher bruschetta made the rounds, the urban crowd admired contemporary art hanging from the white-washed walls as well as joyful photographs of young preschool students who attend the popular Gan Chabad.

Blog: Sushi Hamantaschen Recipe

Anyone who reads my blog knows that I’m just not that big a baker. So when Purim comes around, I’m not about to make my own hamantaschen. The bakery stuff is good enough for me. I still like to get into the Purim spirit, so coming up with something that has three corners (reminiscent of Haman’s three-cornered hat) is a must. Last year, I made these puff pastry ones, filled with sauteed spinach, cabbage, and pumpkin fillings. This year, I knew I had to step it up.

Visiting a police station is a common rite of childhood. But going to a police department to say thank you is not common, said Yehudah Kohn of Teaneck. Which was why he brought his son Joshua, 7, to an event Sunday sponsored by Chabad of Teaneck in which children made thank you cards and gifts and brought them to Teaneck police officers.
