LI Community Meets Maimonides in Mineola Siyum

In conjunction with the completion of the 30th cycle of the study of Rambam, Chabad of Mineola sponsored an elaborate Siyum with the participation of the community leaders and many unaffiliated Jews.

Special greetings were presented by Rabbi Yamin Levy, the Senior Rabbi of Beth Hadassah Iranian Jewish Center of Great Neck. He spoke of his unique connection to the Rebbe and displayed the special ‘Collector’s item publication’ marking the very first Siyum HoRambam held by the Rebbe in 1985. Rabbi Levy leads a group of dedicated individuals helping to renovate and upgrade the immediate area around the Rambam’s tomb in Tiberius.

“There is a deep interest in the teachings and living legacy of the Rambam,” noted Rabbi Anchelle Perl, shliach to Mineola. “By studying Mishneh Torah we are fulfilling the Rebbe’s vision of a people dedicated to a holistic view of Torah, a wholesomeness of our own mission and the important impact we all must have on the world as outlined by the Rambam”.

The Siyum was led by Rabbi Dovid Perl. This was followed by guest speaker, Hashliach, Rabbi Yochanan Marosov, Rav of Cong Bais Menachem of Flatbush Brooklyn. Rabbi Marosov presented an eloquent and insightful analysis on why the Rambam remained in Egypt even as he expressed himself, how he knows that on a daily basis, he is transgressing the prohibition of returning and living there.

The program ended with the singing of Sheyibonei Bais Hamigdash by noted Cantor Israel Goldstein and a lively farbrengen.
